What is label paramecium?

Paramecium is a genus of unicellular ciliate protists. They are found in freshwater habitats like ponds, shallow streams, and stagnant pools. Paramecium cells are oblong or slipper-shaped with a characteristic ciliary groove known as the oral groove, which is used for feeding. They have a complex and varied life cycle, with both sexual and asexual modes of reproduction. Paramecium is used extensively in biological and genetic research as a model organism, due to its large size, ease of culturing, and simple structure. Researchers have identified over 20 different species of Paramecium, including the well-known Paramecium caudatum, Paramecium bursaria, and Paramecium aurelia.
